This global organisation is listed on the ASX and is a well-known investor in a specific market sector and also an asset manager with operations on four continents. With a market cap of close to $3B and total assets under management of $15 billion across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America they are comprised of more than 500 + staff in 30 offices in 15 countries. They are currently seeking to appoint a talented Assistant Accountant, soon to be or already embarked on their journey to be a qualified Accountant.
The Role
As the successful Assistant Accountant this is a hands-on accounting position in a dynamic company that will offer you a wide range of experience. The initial focus of this role will be to support the existing Corporate Accounting team in their day to day work. Reporting to a highly experienced Financial Controller, your duties may include, but not be limited to:-
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial accounts for corporate subsidiaries for inclusion in the group consolidation, board reporting and other external reporting
- In partnership with internal stakeholders, ensure the accurate upkeep of the fixed asset register for accounting, processing and reporting purposes including the monthly depreciation report
- Assist with the preparation of BAS, coordination of approvals and lodgement with the ATO and completion of working papers relating to FBT and payroll tax
- Assist with the coordination of corporate inter-company recharges and creditor payments (including FX transactions)
- Assist with the preparation of statutory reporting requirements for inclusion in the group results at Half year and Year End
- Validate and monitor the processing of debtors and creditors to ensure accuracy in the financial system is upheld and maintained
About you
The ideal Assistant Accountant will be degree qualified and due to commence or already commenced study for admission to a professional accounting body. You may be an Analyst or newly promoted Senior Analyst in a Big 4 or Tier 2 firm, and know that staying longer at the firm is over capitalising on your Public Practice experience - if you don't want to be a Partner, right now is the best time to make that move into commerce. You will demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude, extremely strong communication skills and be passionate about developing your career. The role requires attention to detail, respect for deadlines and changing priorities.
Skills & Experience
The successful Assistant Accountant will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Commerce;
- Minimum of 1-2 years' work experience in public or private accounting or a transactional finance position with exposure to ASX listed companies
- Pursuing or intent to pursue CA/CPA qualifications or very newly qualified
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to juggle competing
- High attention to detail
- As sense of humour
