The Role

As the Assistant Financial Accountant you will support the Finance Operations Manager of CAPA through assistance in accounting, finance, and operations. You will ensure that reporting is up-kept to a high quality and completed to the standards requirements of the local and global regulatory environment.

As the Assistant Financial Accountant you will be a key member of the finance team, you will lead the continuous development and implementation of best practice of financial processes and reporting. You will manage the day-to-day accounts function and platforms and work autonomously to prepare, analyse and report on budgets.

The Duties

  • Month end reporting:
    • Management of monthly MYOB trial balance and upload into Oracle/TM1 with assistance of the SSC.
    • Review of general ledger accounts to ensure they are properly coded and aligned with accounting requirements.
  • Audit - Assist with year-end accounting and reporting processes and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Support the quarterly forecast and annual operating plans/budget processes (P&L, Balance sheet and Capex).
  • Working with 3rd party accountants:
    • Reviewing month end reports provided including:
      • Balance sheet accounts
      • Profit and Loss reporting
      • Revenue Forecasting
    • Ensuring that tax/ASIC reporting is processed correctly.
  • Assisting the CAPA bookkeeper in day to day operations and acting as a backup when required.

About You

As the Assistant Financial Accountant you will need to be:

  • Adaptable: you should be able to pick up new skills to fit the requirements of a changing working environment
  • Autonomous: you should be a self starter who is able to work from home and meet targets without micromanagement.
  • Be solution focused with the ability to recognise gaps in the business which can be improved upon.
  • Strong planning and time management skills, with the ability to self-prioritise to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Analytical thinker with inquisitive mind, asks questions & seeks input, whilst managing risk well

Skills & Experience

  • Required:
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance Related field
    • Previous experience in Month End Reporting
    • An understanding financial statements and Australian accounting standards
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Understanding of financial modelling

  • Desired:
    • Previous experience in:
      • Budgeting and forecasting
      • Bookkeeping
      • TM1 and Oracle Reporting
    • Advanced financial modelling skills
    • Understanding of Auditing requirements for statutory filing
    • Previous Salesforce experience
    • Understanding of local and global tax regulations
    • CA Qualified/Partially Qualified
