Contract Specialist

Location: Macquarie Park, Sydney
Work Type: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days WFH)

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Contract Specialist to join their high-performing Commercial team. Sitting within the Controls & Digitalisation portfolio, this role plays a key part in supporting the sales function across complex energy solutions.
This is a fast-paced, commercially focused role where you'll take ownership of customer contracts, tenders, and negotiations, working closely with Sales, Legal, and senior stakeholders. It's well suited to someone who enjoys working autonomously, thrives in a structured environment, and has a sharp eye for detail.

A Snapshot of the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Team Leader, you'll be responsible for managing the commercial lifecycle of contracts from tender stage through to negotiation and handover. You'll operate as a key partner to the sales team, ensuring all commercial aspects align with company strategy, risk profiles, and pricing frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead contract negotiations with customers, ensuring alignment with commercial strategy and risk parameters
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice across tenders, offers, and quotations (including pricing, T&Cs, and risk assessments)
  • Review and draft contract documentation and amendments, working closely with legal and technical teams
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including:
    • Sales Executives
    • Tendering Team
    • Legal Counsel
    • Procurement
    • Senior Leadership
  • Support negotiation of commercial terms and conditions across varying contract structures
  • Coordinate internal approvals and presentations, including engagement with global stakeholders
  • Analyse and report on sales and commercial performance metrics
  • Facilitate smooth handover to project delivery teams post-contract award
  • Identify and drive process improvements across sales and commercial functions

About You

  • Degree in Law, Business, Commerce, Accounting, Economics or similar (Law highly regarded)
  • 5+ years' experience in a commercial, legal, or contract-focused environment
  • Strong experience in customer-side negotiations (not supplier/subcontractor focused)
  • Exposure to tendering and contract lifecycle management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised, structured, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proactive, able to take initiative and work independently
  • Comfortable working across multiple priorities and deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Experience within the energy or infrastructure sector
  • Familiarity with SAP (not essential)
