This State Government Agency is looking for an experience people leader with deep technical experience in either Android or iOS app development as we grow the in-house capability of our mobile apps project. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how mobile apps are built within the organisation and drive key functionality as we continue to build out the capability of our mobile offering for all Victorians. As the Delivery Lead for this team, you will be responsible for overall performance of your team, work with the Product Owner to help prioritise and determine your team's roadmap and report progress against objectives.

What a Delivery Lead does:

  • First and foremost, you're a people leader: you will have line management responsibility for a small team (typically between 4 and 6 people) of technology specialists, mostly software engineers, in a cross functional
  • You'll enjoy mentoring and coaching, working closely with your team to identify skill gaps, establish professional development plans and conduct regular performance reviews (both formal and informal)
  • You'll enjoy having positive impacts on culture, and work to build engagement and motivation within your team
  • Working closely with the Product team, you'll help develop the product roadmap, prioritise deliverables and contribute to effort estimations to help plan the delivery schedule
  • Contribute to release planning for your team's mobile apps across both iOS and Android platforms
  • As part of the wider engineering leadership group, you'll represent your team, keeping the group up to date with your team's progress towards quarterly objectives, identify and manage risks and help remove blockers for other teams
  • With a deep technical background, you'll provide expert advice and thought leadership on technical design, implementation and architecture choices, ensuring they align to organisational standards and strategies
  • Contributes to the team's deliverables in a hands-on way writing and reviewing code

On your first day you'll have:

  • Demonstrated experiencing leading, mentoring and coaching a team of technical specialists, directly or indirectly, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement
  • Practical experience of agile software delivery methodologies
  • Hands on experience as a software engineer building mobile applications, either Android or iOS, ideally in Swift or Kotlin
  • A passion for keeping up to date with mobile development treads, either focusing on Android, iOS or both
  • A keen attention to detail and passion for great user experiences
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great communication, influencing and coaching skills with the ability to explain complex ideas and solve problems
  • A well-developed sense of empathy for your customers, both internal and external

Desired qualifications

  • Industry based accreditation such as ITIL or SAFe is highly
