Grants Officers assist in the development, delivery and management of public-facing government programs.

Key requirements:

  • experience in grant program design, program delivery and/or grant agreement management
  • the ability to be flexible and deliver on competing priorities in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • high-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Work with a range of customers (small local community organisations, councils and internal to government)
  • high-level negotiation and problem solving skills
  • demonstrate the capacity to work in a team under limited supervision
  • well-developed research and analysis skills and the ability to reach evidence based conclusions
  • ability to exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of procedures
  • strong IT and system skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • undertaking program delivery, including assessing eligibility and/or merit of applications in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines, and justifying recommendations with appropriate evidence
  • undertaking Quality Assurance (QA of approvals, contract variations, reports)
  • negotiating and managing complex and difficult grant agreements
  • undertaking contract variations and terminations
  • managing and processing complex reports including compliance cases and associated grant payments
  • coordinating small teams
  • engaging with different teams across the wider department and external partners
  • providing input to program briefing and whole of Government reporting.
