This is a company committed to the Safety and Wellbeing of their sizeable team across Australia & New Zealand and have some exciting initiatives and programs for this role to lead.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Safety will effectively and efficiently lead development, implementation and maintenance of the WHS management framework including systems, policies, and procedures in line with legislation, standards, and internal policies to ensure the overall safety of their team members and key stakeholders.

Some Key responsibilities include:

  • Review, develop, implement, and monitor an effective WHS Strategic Plan that is aligned to the Strategic Plan
  • Provide direction, to support departmental ownership of WHS strategic and annual operating plans
  • Effectively manage WHS resources to drive business value and outcomes aligned to the strategy
  • Develop WHS training programs that build operational management capability and competence and identify opportunities to lead cultural improvement
  • Oversee the review of all high consequence events including injury management, restoring control of the site, scoping the investigation, reviewing the investigation, and organising audit of improvement controls

About you

To be successful in this role you will have ideally have:

  • A tertiary or post graduate qualification(s) in health and safety, ideally with previous experience in a similar strategic health and safety role
  • A working knowledge of the AS/NZ regulatory requirements and administrative frameworks and experience in dealing with regulators relating to managing health and safety
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing a WHS Management System
  • Excellent business writing skills
  • ELT / C-Suite intelligence - proven ability to influence at senior leadership level
  • Proven experience in leading a team of WHS practitioners
  • A positive, results-targeted, and professional approach
