Junior WHSE Advisor (Civil Construction)

The Role:
The Junior WHSE (Work Health, Safety & Environment) Advisor will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of WHSE systems across projects and operations. Working closely with site teams and leadership, the role focuses on promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company procedures.
This position reports directly to the Senior WHSE Advisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of WHSE management systems in alignment with company policies and legislative requirements
- Support site-based risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations
- Conduct routine workplace inspections, audits, and safety observations
- Help facilitate WHSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks for employees and contractors
- Maintain WHSE documentation, records, and reporting systems
- Monitor compliance with WHSE procedures, permits, and safe work practices
- Assist in the development and review of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JSEA)
- Participate in incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and communication with the workforce
- Provide general administrative support to the WHSE function as required
Qualifications and Skills: - Tertiary qualification or currently studying in Work Health & Safety, Environmental
Management, or a related field - Understanding of Australian WHS legislation and standards (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Construction or mining industry exposure (advantageous)
