A large Government Department is looking for an experienced PMO Manager. The role of the PMO Manager is to manage and coordinate Project and Portfolio management services across TS. The role interacts with functional/business unit leadership to craft a PPMO strategy that aligns with business objectives and priorities. The role is also responsible for developing a robust and flexible TS project and program methodology for use throughout the department, as well as overseeing effective project and program delivery.

Responsibilities of the PMO Manager:

  • Manages a portfolio of project and program management services (project analysis, project execution, project delivery) for TS
  • Ensures that investments and initiatives in project management services are aligned with business strategy and priorities
  • Collaborates with Finance, business unit leaders, and service managers to develop and manage project and program budgeting and cost estimation approaches, resource allocation, and reallocations
  • Prioritizes programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies
  • Monitors value metrics to make informed decisions that maximize returns across projects and programs
  • Monitors the delivery of business objectives and client experience for PPMO services
  • Works with business unit leaders to develop project and program resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities
  • Ensures adoption and implementation of project and program management methodology and oversees project and program management coaching
  • Engages with cross-functional business leaders to objectively analyse the organization's ability to absorb change and adopt project and programs post-deployment
  • Communicates status of the project and program portfolio to all stakeholders
  • Defines principles and standards to harmonize project management methodologies from third party or external service providers
  • Accountable for Delivery Assurance and the Governance Framework that is applied to the projects within the TS portfolio

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in Certification in Prince2, PMP or MSP.
  • Appropriate vocation training / qualifications in Agile, Scrum, Lean and development methodologies would be
  • highly regarded. Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and
  • budgeting is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading projects and programs within and outside IT, as well as projects and programs that
  • involved external providers.
  • More than 10 years of project and program management experience.
