ManpowerGroup is actively engaged with a state government department that is now looking for a dedicated Principal Policy Officer to join an exciting new project. This person will work as part of a distributed team and is responsible for ensuring high quality coordination, analysis and advice in the identification, preparation and assessment of Cabinet Submissions

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate complex, sensitive, high-quality advice on Cabinet Submissions
  • Action reports, briefing notes, policy documentation and correspondence for the review and consideration of the Director, Executive Director, Deputy Secretaries, Secretary and Ministers.
  • Draw on comprehensive understanding of government processes, policy coordination skills and ability to work collaboratively, negotiate and influence others.
  • Ensure their group maintains an active understanding of Cabinet matters and wider requirements and expectations of Government, particularly on strategic and contentious matters
  • Provide advice, support and training to senior Departmental officers on Government and Cabinet matter to ensure the Department's contributions meet the highest standards.

About you

  • Previous experience within policy, ministerial duties or cabinet submissions
  • Excellent Stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and appropriate judgement of difficult situations
  • Proven ability to adapt in situations that lack clarity and work to resolve hurdles.
