ROLE PURPOSE

The role of Senior Data Analyst will undertake data analysis to inform the design, implementation and monitoring of part of the Department's fund and funding initiative. At the same time the role supports partner units on discrete tasks.

The Senior Data Analyst will have the opportunity to:

  • develop monitoring processes that underpin the implementation of the new funding arrangements
  • undertake data analysis and modelling on planning and financial data
  • translate and communicate data into compelling insights to inform policy development and implementation
  • lead regular reporting on implementation fund and funding
  • produce high-quality written work, including presentations, infographics, reports and

The successful candidate will have strong collaborative and problem-solving skills, be an integral part of a dynamic environment, and will support the work of both the Mental Health Reform and Inclusive Education Divisions by:

  • building understanding of the new funding arrangements across the central Department, regions and schools
  • monitoring the implementation of the roll-out through project management tools and reporting
  • strengthening stakeholder relationships in order to drive successful implementation of the

KEY ACTIVITIES

Program and project delivery

  • Identify and document program or project risks and issues and develop effective management strategies
  • Use appropriate project management planning and monitoring tools to track project progress
  • Assess project outputs and define their quality criteria
  • Ensure that projects remain on-track to deliver their intended objectives

Reporting

  • Produce briefings and program or project reports and provide advice to enable effective decision making
  • Report upon performance standards such as timelines, budgets, quality of outcomes/outputs

Data analysis and reporting

  • Analyse data using standard tools (e.g. SQL, server, Access, Excel, SPSS, SAS and Visual Basic)
  • Ensure delivery of timely, accurate and high-quality data products and reports
  • Present complex concepts ideas and issues in clear confident and timely manner
  • Provide recommendations for embedding insights from analysis to drive action

Information dissemination

  • Prepare and, as appropriate, present discussion papers, submissions, reports and
  • briefings for committees, expert bodies, ministers or key decision makers
  • Produce and, as appropriate, publish and distribute print and online content to
  • communicate with diverse audiences, deliver presentations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Essential : Relevant experience in Data management and analysis
  • Desirable : Advanced diploma in Statistics
  • Desirable : Bachelor's degree in Relevant field
