SQL Database Administrator - Contract Role

Location - Murdoch, Perth
Pay Rate - $ 470/day - $500/day + Super
Remote work option may be available

Summary:

This is a hands-on DBA role focussed on supporting the SQL databases for a range of systems including a suite of facilities management applications. It involves SQL database administration, application database performance analysis and tuning, and administration of SQL transactional replication. Experience supporting Microsoft SQL databases in a large scale enterprise environment is required.

The DBA will be based in the applications team, but also interacting heavily with the server infrastructure team. This is in a 24 x 7 Managed Service environment with service KPIs, under an ITIL service management framework.

Role duties:

  • Design and perform database maintenance activities to ensure applications and systems meet availability and response time KPIs
  • Application database analysis and performance tuning
  • Establishment and administration of SQL Server Transactional Replication
  • Establishment and administration of SQL Server Auditing
  • Assistance where required with Incident, Problem, Change, Availability and Capacity management, Service Request fulfilment
  • Participate in the delivery of projects as SQL database SME
  • Maintain relevant system documentation, covering system design and configuration, and operational support
  • Some out-of-hours work will be required from time to time

Mandatory skills

  • Demonstrated experience in MSSQL database administration in an enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated experience in MSSQL database transactional replication in an enterprise environment
  • Strong skills in application database tuning
  • Experience with clustered MSSQL instances
  • Experience with MSSQL auditing
  • Working knowledge of virtual server infrastructure, networks and firewalls
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and Windows security
  • Working knowledge of enterprise application architecture on Microsoft platforms
  • Change management culture including development of detailed implementation plans and risk assessments
  • Overall understanding of ITIL processes
  • Relevant IT Qualification
  • Good communication skills
  • Must have valid work rights AU - PR or Citizen
