This Australian retail business has gone from strength to strength since launching in 2005 and is now one of Australia's largest retailers of consumer electronics. Having started as a retailer specialising in cameras and imaging they now employs over 100 staff across multiple states and enjoys important relationships with multinational supplier partners, payment, loyalty rewards, logistics and other service providers. As the Accounts Payable Officer you will join the team Accounts team and work in their modern office in St Peters.

The Role
As the Accounts Payable Officer you will join the dedicated accounts team managing the day-to-day finances of their nationally recognised specialty retail businesses primarily in the retail sector. As the full-time Accountant you will be highly experienced and looking for a long-term opportunity where you can advance your career.

  • Accounts payable reconciliation
  • Financial reporting on a Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly basis,
  • Month End journals and reconciliations,
  • Management of petty cash accounts, credit card statements & other day to day activities,
  • Working with our off shore team to manage bank reconciliations and gateway payments to ensure their accuracy.
  • Oversee the management of high volumes of sales transactions across multiple stores, bank accounts and payment gateways as part of bank reconciliation process.
  • Assisting and supporting others in the Accounts Team and Snr. Management

About You

As the Accounts Payable Officer you will be passionate and enthusiastic about Accounting. You will be a confident multi-tasker and communicate well with others. As the Accountant you will be looking to grow and enhance your career in a role where you can work closely with the Accounts team.

Skills & Experience

  • Have at least 3 years practical Accounting department experience
  • Be proficient in all aspects of Bookkeeping/Accounts procedures.
  • Experience in End of Month (EOM) procedures
  • Be able to assist in the maintenance of individual store cost centres and the preparation of internal reports and General Ledger maintenance.
  • Be proficient in reconciling high volumes of invoices as part of the creditor's reconciliation.
  • Work within set timeframes to provide information in a timely manner.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Show attention to detail
  • A 'can do' attitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Have advanced Excel Skills
  • Prepare ad hoc reports that may be required by senior management.
  • Work under pressure and meet daily and monthly deadlines.
  • Have great interpersonal skills, a friendly disposition, the ability to work with all personality types and the confidence to liaise with all levels of management.
