Job description

Our Federal Government client specialised in the education sector are looking for project support officers to join their tightly knit team on an initial 6-month basis, with possibility to extend for up to 12-months. These positions are available at both the APS5 and APS6 level base in Canberra, ACT.

The Transforming Program Administration for Schools and Universities Division is at the forefront of delivering the Education Funding System (EFS) Project, a groundbreaking initiative to modernize technology and enhance end-to-end entitlement management for schools and higher education providers. This transformative project is aligned with the department's IT Strategy and aims to elevate business capabilities, fostering improved digital interactions crucial for program delivery.

As the Project Support Officer, your key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and apply departmental frameworks, processes, and procedures for the successful delivery of the EFS project.
  • Develop and support the delivery of relevant project, governance, and assurance reports.
  • Undertake a wide range of administrative support activities, including secretariat duties, brief and paper development, procurement, recruitment, contract management, and project and financial reporting.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines amid competing priorities while delivering work to a high standard with keen attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong communication aptitude.
  • Ability to utilise various reference materials to prepare detailed reports periodically and on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Capability to make decisions with some autonomy and undertake work of moderate complexity under limited supervision.
  • Proficient in analysing reports and information, identifying issues, and contributing to their resolution.

Desired Qualities:

  • Exercise good judgment and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage urgent tasks with short timeframes when required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance
