Job description

Role Purpose

This role is responsible for growing, coordinating, and supporting a volunteer medical workforce. You will recruit and onboard specialist clinicians and coordinate their deployment on short-term overseas missions across the Indo-Pacific, ensuring volunteers are well prepared, compliant, and supported. You will also play a key role in keeping volunteers engaged, informed, and connected to the outcomes of the Global Health Program.

Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement

  • Be the main point of contact for clinicians interested in joining the volunteer program

  • Recruit and onboard new volunteers, including interviews and reference checks

  • Work with Specialty Coordinators who assess clinical capability

  • Keep volunteers informed and engaged through regular communications

Deployment Coordination

  • Advertise and manage Expressions of Interest for overseas deployments

  • Coordinate pre-deployment requirements, including training and compliance

  • Arrange travel and logistics

  • Support pre-departure briefings so teams are well prepared

Program Support & Administration

  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and compliance tracking

  • Manage e-learning and training compliance

  • Support quarterly meetings and deployment reviews

  • Assist with updates to the Volunteer Coordinator Manual

  • Help produce the quarterly e-newsletter and maintain the photo library

  • Support DFAT re-accreditation activities

What You Bring

Essential

  • Experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers

  • Strong organisation, planning, and record-keeping skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and compliance requirements

  • Confident communicator who can work with medical professionals

  • Experience with newsletters, website updates, or social media

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Team-focused, flexible, and reliable

Desirable

  • Experience with compliance systems and databases

  • Experience organising international travel

  • Background or interest in health, humanitarian, or development work

  • Experience contributing to quality improvement or reporting
