Job description
To be successful you will have completed a tertiary qualification in civil engineering and have a minimum of seven years relevant work experience. You will have both the operational acumen to provide technical oversight and strategic input, plus strong people management skills to empower your team. Experience working in Local Government will be favourable but is not essential. You are focused but flexible in your approach to your work and thrive in fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Your well-developed time management skills allow you to shift easily, maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Selection Criteria:
1. A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) and a minimum of seven years relevant work experience.
2. Experience certifying the work of others and providing technical direction and mentoring to less qualified and/or experienced staff.
3. Experience in providing lead support in the development of asset management strategies and capital works plans.
4. Multiple examples of project planning and management of significant scale and/or complexity that have been delivered on time, within budget and a quality output.
5. Experience in leading procurement and tender processes, including administering contracts and overseeing contractors.
6. Experience in the review of planning applications and the provision of associated engineering approvals.
7. Experience in work health and safety and how it relates to construction and civil works, particularly when authorising contractors to carry out work.
8. Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate, negotiate with tact and diplomacy.
9. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, administration and infrastructure design.
10. Current vehicle driver's licence and commitment to maintaining this.
