Payroll Officer - Immediate Start


Start Date:
ASAP (Urgent requirement due to current payroll support being on emergency leave)


Work Arrangement:


  • Week 1: Thursday & Friday

  • Week 2: Monday & Tuesday

About the Role:


This is a hands-on payroll position supporting a complex, multi-state payroll across QLD, ACT, NSW, and VIC for a technical services company operating in the fire, HVAC, and electrical trades. The role will manage fortnightly payroll cycles using Pronto, requiring a high level of accuracy and award interpretation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate the entry of timesheets by branch staff to ensure accurate reconciliation for payroll processing

  • Administer all leave types, including annual, personal, and long service leave

  • Process end-to-end payroll in Pronto for employees across four states

  • Interpret awards and Hirotec employment policies to respond to payroll-related queries from staff

  • Review and interpret daily timesheets, ensuring alignment with applicable awards and employment conditions before posting to the ERP system

  • Fortnightly payroll processing for all operational staff (excludes corporate employees)

Requirements:


  • Strong understanding of relevant modern awards and enterprise agreements

  • Pronto ERP experience is essential - must be able to process payroll independently in the system

  • Comfortable working with job-based time tracking (some jobs as short as 30 mins)

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume payroll environment

  • No formal minimum years of experience required, but must be confident and capable
