Job description


The Software Asset Manager will play a pivotal role in driving a business partner-centric operational model, ensuring software and hardware assets are managed efficiently, compliantly, and with maximum value for the organisation.
This position is responsible for advising stakeholders on selecting and implementing approved solutions that meet operational needs, while minimising risk through robust asset and financial management. The role involves overseeing procurement, contract renewals, and lifecycle management across hardware and software, ensuring the organisation always has the right tools in place-securely, cost-effectively, and on time.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Service Owners to track, facilitate, and optimise software and hardware contract renewals.
  • Advise on solutions to meet business requirements while ensuring procurement of only approved products.
  • Validate asset usage, meet financial requirements, and monitor lifecycle stages including End-of-Life, version management, and fleet size.
  • Work with technology teams to design and execute transition strategies for assets and contractual arrangements.
  • Identify licensing risks, non-compliance, and mitigation strategies through strong control mechanisms.
  • Ensure all standards, processes, and reporting meet internal and external regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in software asset management, including direct dealings with software vendors (financial services experience desirable).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and consultative skills.
  • Expertise in software and hardware asset management principles.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
  • Understanding of operating environments, core applications, and products in a corporate setting (desirable).
