Discipline Health, Safety & Environment
Job reference 107935
Salary Salary + Bonus + Car

Your Opportunity

Our client is one of the leaders within the Utilities sector who are now seeking an HSE Team Leader to take on a dual role.

If you are seeking stability and security in a company - with deliver of a product/service that everyone needs - then this is it! (After a bugger of a year in 2020, this is something not to be sneezed at, let's be honest).

Operationally, partnering with a few key sites directly, working mainly out of Geelong and in regional Vic.

As a Team Leader, overseeing and managing some other HSE Advisors, and ensuring that they are delivering with their client groups, sharing best practise and being a conduit of communication between this group and the broader business.

There is a range of client groups across the broader team, but the main stakeholder group for this role (and direct reports) are the down to earth, frontline operational teams, and their leaders. And with these men and women, your success comes down to being able to communicate and build relationships so that they understand and trust you. And when you need to push back, or deliver technical information that they or their union representatives aren't aligned with, you have some points in the bank so that there is an open conversation.

Within a medium to high risk business, you will need to (currently or be able to learn) have a good depth of technical knowledge across a range of critical risk areas, and be able to partner with the operational team to keep everyone safe and healthy. This will continue the good work that has been completed over the last few years in delivering a healthy and safe workplace, including the response to Covid-19 in the last 12 months.

Like many high risk work sites, this Health, Safety and Environment role depends heavily on your ability to develop, maintain and ongoing working relationships. Sometimes these have to develop at pace, in tough working environments, and even over zoom (at times).

The Role & Person

Key to this role will be your ability to understand the key priorities and make good decisions as to how/where to spend your energies and time. You will need to demonstrate your key decision making ability in a similar lead/senior advisor role, and have the ability to learn about managing others.

Also really key will be the right aptitude to be able to building relationships through consistency, communication, and delivery on what you say you are going to do. This is important for your internal client group, your HSE Team members and the relevant unions. (previous experience working with unions will be highly regarded)

Technical ability and a strong ability to deliver pragmatic solutions will, of course, be key.

As well as having a Diploma of OHS (as a minimum).

Previous people management will be highly regarded, but won't be the deciding factor.

Above all, you will be an enthusiastic, committed and ambitious person looking to grow your career in an environment where you will be given opportunity to flourish.

The Rewards

There are plenty of opportunities to understand how your role fits into the bigger picture here. You will have a competitive salary package to reward your impact, a Motor vehicle and solid bonus opportunity.
