Manpower is actively engaged with a State Government department that is now looking for a Manager - Advice and Support to provide effective leadership and people management of the Advice and Support Team in the Operations Branch of Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing Division.

This is 6-month APS 6 role and will commence ASAP.

What to Expect:

  • With the support of four regional OHS team leaders, the Manager will supervise a team of occupational health and safety officers, and will empower and guide the team to provide high quality, responsive advice and technical OHS support to Department workplace managers, school leaders and employees.
  • The Manager will support the Director, Operations to liaise and partner with other teams within the EHSW Division and across the Department to ensure coordinated and streamlined support for OHS and employee wellbeing matters, lead the delivery of targeted support programs to schools, and maximise the effectiveness of safety interventions and supports across the Department's diverse worksites and workforces.
  • The Manager will ensure the team's resources (including through services providers) are used effectively and efficiently.
  • The Operations Branch is committed to building a 'service' culture within its teams. In line with this goal, the Manager will have a strong focus on client service and a commitment to supporting and leading the best possible outcomes for the health, safety and wellbeing of Department staff, and to reducing administrative burden for schools.

About you:

  • The Manager will demonstrate commitment to collaboration within EHSW Division and other Department teams on the delivery of priority programs and services, and to driving continuous improvement of OHS outcomes for staff, and of the team's operating model, to support this.
  • The Manager will have strong relationship building skills and the ability to understand the underlying needs and context of our schools and corporate workforce.
  • The Manager will build trust with other teams and Divisions through consistent actions and communication and, with support the Operations Director, will build support for ideas and proposals to achieve the best possible safety and wellbeing outcomes for Department staff.
