Position Description
The Business Development Manager / Account Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the acquisition of new business and the retention and expansion of existing accounts. The role leads customer strategy and is accountable for account performance, ensuring consistent sales execution, high-quality customer engagement, and accurate CRM reporting.
Success in this role is measured by sustained account growth, disciplined sales execution, and the quality of commercial insights delivered to the business
Key Responsibilities
- Account & Customer Management
- Manage, develop, and grow a portfolio of customer accounts across various industry sectors including manufacturing, transport & construction.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships.
- Identify and convert opportunities for new business, upselling, and cross selling.
- Act as the primary point of contact for strategic customer engagement.
- Develop and share daily customer visit priorities and focus areas with customer field support representatives.
- Participate in regular briefing and debriefing discussions to align on customer activity, outcomes, and next steps.
- Strategy & Market Insight
- Analyse market trends, sales data, and customer feedback to refine account strategies.
- Translate insights into actionable customer plans and growth initiatives.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide meaningful reporting and insights.
- Work closely with senior management, internal sales teams, and warehouse operations to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Coordinate internally to manage customer expectations, resolve issues, and support account growth.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3-5+ years' experience in sales, account management, or business development. Preferably in related trade based industries.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Proven ability to manage key accounts and grow revenue.
- Strong planning, organisation, and CRM/reporting capability.
- Solid understanding of field sales execution and pipeline management.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
