We are actively engaged with our Federal government client in Canberra who are looking for APS6 level Project Officers to commence a initial 12 months contract with 12 months extension

Role and Responsibilities:

The Project Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform, coordinate and assist in a range of moderately complex to complex project support activities, program and project management, with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, including but not limited to monitoring of the portfolio, responsible for updating the project plans and budget management, applying effective project management tools to provide the best possible results within agreed program timeframes. Work may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of project priorities and managing workflows.

The Project Officer is an important conduit within the Division providing direct support to the project team, and through consultation and stakeholder engagement coordinates and contributes to the timely and accurate achievement of Division outcomes.


The key skills and experience required include:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Officer within large organisations
  • Adept with MS Office Suite, including Project, Visio, Microsoft Teams
  • Ensure knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage with numerous stakeholders via several means, e.g. workshop facilitation
  • Responsible for coordinating meetings, agenda and minute preparation, and follow up on outstanding actions.
