About the Role
We're looking for a motivated Communications Coordinator to join the Waste team on a temporary basis. In this role, you'll help deliver campaigns that encourage the community to reduce waste and recycle more. You'll support events and initiatives like Recycle It Saturday, clothes swaps, food scraps recycling, and furniture reuse.
This is a hands-on role that involves writing content, managing marketing materials, and coordinating communications across digital and print channels. You'll need to juggle multiple projects at once and keep everything running smoothly
What You'll Be Doing
Plan and run marketing campaigns to promote waste and recycling programs.
Write and update content for the website, emails, social media, posters, and more.
Work with designers to produce visuals and promotional materials.
Keep branding consistent and messaging clear across all channels.
Track campaign results and help improve outreach.
Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
Use tools like Jira (for tracking), Trim (for records), and Microsoft Office.
What We're Looking For
You're a clear communicator, well-organised, and passionate about sustainability. You're comfortable working to deadlines and managing feedback from different people.
Essential
Degree in communications, marketing or similar.
At least 2 years' experience in a communications or marketing role.
Experience developing campaigns across digital and print.
Strong writing and editing skills (plain English).
Able to juggle multiple tasks, feedback, and deadlines.
Familiar with social media, website updates and digital tools.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Jira, Google Analytics 4 and Trim (or able to learn).
Interest in waste reduction and sustainability.
Nice to Have
Experience working in government or with community programs.
Understanding of waste and recycling initiatives.
Some graphic design skills or experience working with designers
