Diesel Mechanic
An opportunity has opened for the right person to join a growing company with over 35 years' experience servicing the industry.
Based at Gepps Cross and reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy vehicle equipment within the business, as well as contributing to the broader workshop team. As a member of the team, you will be required work closely with the Workshop Manager to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of a vehicle to relevant transport legislation and standards
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance services.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdown and roadside repairs
  • Action all driver defect reports as required
  • Perform fault diagnostics to detect mechanical and electrical faults
  • Test drive and/or operate equipment to ensure repair has been completed correctly.
  • Ensure all equipment is safe to use and stored correctly
  • Mentor and train apprentices and less experienced team members as required



Skills and experience

  • Trade Certificate as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Heavy Rigid license (preferable)
  • Proven experience servicing and maintaining heavy vehicles
  • Auto electrical and/or hydraulic knowledge would be advantageous
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems desirable
  • Ability to work with limited supervision



The successful applicant will receive

  • Above Award Wages - To be negotiated based on experience & qualifications
  • Fulltime hours Monday to Friday + overtime as required


A Medical Assessment with drug and alcohol testing will be required prior to commencement
