Job description

Manpower is partnering with a leading Defence delivery organisation to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead major infrastructure works in the Northern Territory.

This role is suited to a proven construction Project Manager who has delivered complex, high-value Defence or Government projects and is comfortable operating in regulated, safety-critical environments.

Flexible working arrangements are available. We are open to locally based candidates and interstate professionals seeking a FIFO arrangement.

The opportunity

You will take ownership of end-to-end delivery of Defence infrastructure projects, typically valued between $30m and $40m. You will lead planning, execution, and completion while ensuring compliance with Defence standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.

Projects are site-based in regional NT and form part of nationally significant Defence capability programs.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Defence construction and infrastructure projects

  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resourcing plans

  • Manage consultants, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams

  • Liaise closely with Defence stakeholders and client representatives

  • Oversee contract administration, commercial performance, and risk controls

  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, quality, and Defence standards

  • Prepare clear progress reports, cost reports, and program updates

  • Lead, mentor, and support site and project teams

About you

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 8-10+ years' experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects

  • Proven delivery of projects valued $30m+ within Defence or Government environments

  • Strong commercial, contractual, and risk management capability

  • Demonstrated experience managing programs, budgets, and cost forecasts

  • Confident stakeholder manager across clients, consultants, and contractors

  • Proficiency in project controls and delivery systems such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or Procore

Security requirements

This role requires eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence security clearance. Australian citizenship is required to meet clearance requirements.

  • Initial 12-month FTE contract with potential extension
