They are looking for an ambitious and energetic Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis, and with a career progression plan that fosters growth, development, and success.

The Role

As the Accountant you will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of financial statements, month end processes, budgets, and forecasts, LPI reporting, and administering general ledger and reconciliations. The Accountant will also provide support to the operations team, other departments and Finance team members as required. Duties will include, but not be limited to:-

  • Month end closing and reporting - review Profit and Loss Statements and make appropriate accruals/prepayments as required

  • Maintain integrity of general ledger by ensuring that all journals posted are complete, accurate and substantiated

  • Cash flow reporting

  • Preparation and reconciliation of accounting journals accurately and in a timely manner

  • Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations with required supporting documentation and follow up with outstanding items

  • Support in processing payroll and ensures compliance in all required payroll matters

  • Assist with forecasting and annual budget preparation

  • BAS preparation and lodgement

  • Assist with developing and implementing appropriate internal control policies and procedures

  • Respond to enquiries from both internal and external sources and ad-hoc duties as required

  • Preparing analyses of general ledger accounts and producing monthly or ad hoc reports

  • Responding to supplier or customer enquiries of a financial nature

  • Provide support and back up to Finance Officer around the accounts payable and accounts receivable function

  • Interrelated Business Loan account management.

  • Superannuation and payroll tax calculations and lodgement.

  • KPI calculations and reporting.

  • Perform other duties as required to support the Finance Manager and CFO

About You

You will be a fully qualified accountant who has embarked on a commercial route out of university and through your pursuit of membership to a professional accounting body. You will be a strong communicator, adaptable and flexible and always willing to help out. You will be someone who is proactive, understands change, and drives change. Those commercially experienced with a blend of financial, management accounting and hands on transactional accounting are encouraged to apply.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or related discipline

  • Working towards or completion of CA/CPA

  • Experience in hospitality, retail, FMCG sector desirable

  • Relevant Financial Accounting OR Management Accounting background

  • Current knowledge of accounting standards, principles and practice

  • Ability to drive efficiencies, insights and informed decision making through extensive analysis

  • Strong Implementation, Team Work, Relationship Building, Mental Stamina, and Communication Skills

  • Strong Systems and Excel skills - preferably Xero software

  • Hands on propensity and a can-do attitude when it comes to detail-oriented work
