The primary purpose of this role is to develop and deliver high quality policy, projects, strategies and innovative initiatives that improve the health, safety and well being of our principals, school and Department employees. Reporting to the Principal Policy Advisor - Occupational Violence and Aggression, the role has a particular focus on addressing occupational violence and aggression across both the schools and corporate workforce, including through delivery of the Safety at Work for School Staff Initiative.
The Safety at Work for School Staff Initiative will ensure that schools have the right systems and processes in place when students, or others present with behaviours that are a safety risk. It will provide resources for supporting safe and inclusive school communities for staff and students.
This initiative forms part of the larger suit of reforms under a Victorian Government commitment to reduce OHS administration burden and improve support and service delivery to schools.
This position is located in the Strategy Team and will ensure links and alignment to the development and implementation other reform initiatives. It will also support project governance and reporting through to the Employee Well being and Operational Policy Reform Project Control Board.
This role requires:
- the ability to undertake research and analysis to identify and develop policies and strategies to improve the health, safety and well being of employees
- strong policy skills and the ability to prepare written briefs, reports and options papers to enable effective decision making
- high level project management skills to plan and deliver projects, identify risks, establish governance, monitor and evaluate performance and ensure continuous improvement
- high level stakeholder management skills including the ability to consult, negotiate and influence key stakeholders.
