This State Government Department is looking for an Agile Development Manager to form part of the Planning Information Services Solution Delivery Team. The position oversees the delivery of digital planning initiatives, working closely with internal stakeholders and vendor teams. The position drives adoption of agile product development across the Planning Information Services Branch.

Accountabilities

  • Co-design modern fit-for-purpose solutions; working with product owners, architects, business teams and vendor partners to achieve program and project objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage agile projects, performing as a scrum master as needed. Work with product owners and business analysts to have refined backlogs and developed epics and stories.
  • Lead your team of developers, quality analysts and scrum masters to grow and maintain products hosted in our AWS Kubernetes platform by working flexibly and collaboratively across the business to deliver business unit, group and Department priorities and initiatives as required.
  • Work as part of the leadership team to drive business improvement and a positive workplace culture; lead and manage staff and ensure that role expectations are clearly defined; monitoring performance, providing timely and constructive feedback and facilitating employee development.
  • Manage change and provide agile coaching to product owners and development teams both within the department, external agencies, and industry partners where necessary.
  • Provide authoritative and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders on complex product development issues and solutions.
  • Represent the team at a branch, division or group level management meetings and other forums where appropriate. Influence and negotiate with stakeholders and partners relating to the team's work.
  • Practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.

Key Selection Criteria

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT and/or extensive hand on experience in cloud IT development is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of complex IT development projects in the public or private sectors is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in people management of agile team members working on microservice development in a cloud environment is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of software development methodologies using agile (Scrum and Kanban), including extensive experience in being a Scrum Master and mentoring others in agile is mandatory.
