Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The City Ranger will be allocated a primary area of responsibility across animal control or parking duties.

The successful applicant shall have a proven background in regard to ensuring a high level of customer service for the organisation by maintaining a number of ranger services. They will also have a strong background of regularly conducting patrols and investigations within the City in regard to: animal control; applications for kennel licences; parking duties; fire hazards; declared weeds; litter; and nuisance complaints.

Additionally, the successful applicant shall also require experience in providing an educative role for the community; providing an appropriate level of customer service at the Customer Service Counter, as required; and performing administrative tasks eg data entry and preparation of standard letters; and ensuring compliance.

Selection Criteria

Essential - All City Rangers

◼ Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, including the Dog Control Act, Traffic Act, By-Laws or an ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.

◼ Well-developed interpersonal skills including sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

◼ Ability to deal with animals, in particular dogs.

◼ Ability to work independently and with a degree of discretion.

◼ The ability to work in a team environment and manage work to achieve group outcomes.

◼ Sound communication, computer, organisational and administration skills. Essential Requirements for City Rangers Designated Primary Animal Control Duties

◼ Availability to participate in after-hours roster (including regular weekend roster during summer).

◼ A current driver's licence.

Desirable

◼ Experience in, or knowledge of Local Government services. ◼ Regulatory Services Certificate IV
