Job description
Our client is well-known and respected for providing end-to-end engineering, construction and maintenance services across a range of industries - including rail and transport, communications and technology systems, oil and gas, power, renewables and resources, water and defence. They are currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to start asap!
Key Responsibilities:
- Working as a CNC Operator on a locomotive wheelset overhaul line consisting of:
- Wheel & Axle machining
- Mechanical Fitting and Assembly
- Bearing installation
- Component measurement
- To machine wheels and axles plus various mechanical fitting activities involved in wheelsets and locomotive components support housings.
- Inspect and interpret drawings and specifications and determine method of manufacture and standards as required
- A strong commitment to maintaining a safety environment
To be successful for this role you will require:
- Experienced in CNC operating & programming
- Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision components according to specifications
- Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential.
- Capable of setting up and machining components
- High attention to detail and a sound knowledge of measuring instruments
- Relevant Trade Qualification
- Strong communication skills. Both oral and written
- Previous work experience in the rail industry is desirable but not essential, training provided to suitable applicants the right candidate for this role
