The Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) has exclusively engaged Safesearch to partner in recruiting a Health, Safety and Wellbeing leader to lead a team to lead the organisation in some exciting changes over the coming years.

The Opportunity
Sunshine Coast Council has identified the HSW Manager as a key leader in the organisation to lead the Safety Culture change as part of a broader strategic change. This change will be underpinned by a movement towards a Contemporary Safety approach, and also Safety Maturity for the whole organisation. This includes a large employee base spread across the region and activities, and various engaged contractors. It will support the day to day HSW partnership with all Business Units as well as current major projects and infrastructure work.
The SCC is committed to a change of approach, education of the leadership/broader team, and continuation of growth in the Wellbeing program.
Key elements:
- Defining the Multi-year program/plan, and oversee delivery
- Oversee Critical Risk project - to reshape the approach to key risks, and the underlying process
- Oversee review of current Safety system to provide insights and analysis for forward momentum and proactive measures
- Educate leaders at all levels. Utilising the focus and passion of a forward thinking CEO to drive Safety Education and training through all levels, and create a high functioning WHS organisation
- Integrated Wellbeing programs for the council, including Mental health and Suicide prevention
Currently based at Nambour, this role will relocate to Maroochydore during 2022.
To be successful you must bring:
A proactive individual that has a good level of HSW leadership experience and skills in a company that is large/complex and demonstrated experience in successful implementation.
Typically for roles at this level, leadership, engagement and coaching skills are paramount. Important is the ability to operate in a commercial context and have the ability to lead and drive change.
Experience delivering a program of change towards a contemporary safety environment, utilising education and best practise to influence the entire organisation for this step change in approach.

Formal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, ideally Diploma or above
