Health Safety Wellbeing (HSW) Manager

Location Victoria
Discipline Health, Safety & Environment
Job reference 106516
Salary Good bonus potential

The opportunity:

Our client is a well-known company within the warehousing/retail space who are looking for a safety professional to join their passionate business in a permanent role. This well-loved household name is based in Melbourne (Eastern Suburbs) but will involve some travel across Victoria, once we get back to a new normal. They are a down to earth organisation with an exceptional working culture, stable leadership and ongoing career opportunities. Like all businesses, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team have been integral in the Covid-19 response, they have received solid feedback around their response for all stakeholders.

Key responsibilities for this role will focus on leading a small team in supporting a significant number of sites and staff. You will partner with leadership at all levels to continue understanding and mitigating the key physical and psychosocial risks within the business.

HSW professionals who like to have a rule book and are primarily driven through a compliance lens will struggle to gain traction in an environment that is very relational and built on trust. This role will be responsible for coaching and advising Health, Safety and Wellbeing across the breadth of the team, including Distribution Centres, Retail and Head Office space.

While the team is on a journey of Safety culture and your goal is to coach and advise, you are the type of person that likes to educate and grow the skill within the team. That will also mean jumping in boots and all, getting your hands dirty and similar clichés that mean some level of "doing".

You will also be working with Senior Leadership, meaning you understand the value of tailoring your communication to the audience (particularly influencing senior leaders), bringing passion and compelling communication to the role. This operational role will have you thinking on your feet, prioritising well and needs someone who brings energy and the experience.

Being part of a National team, you will get the opportunity to contribute to (and lead) national projects. This also brings plenty of development and career potential for the right person.

Great role!

Your proven experience will ideally include:

  • Experience in a Safety/HSE Advisory role within a retail/ warehousing/ manufacturing. It would be rare to build the level of expertise required without having 5+ solid years experience in Health and Safety
  • Proven ability to engage, coach and foster relationships
  • Experience and maturity to work in a leadership autonomous role
  • Working across a multi-site business
  • The confidence to deliver safety programmes, support and advise leadership teams
  • Formal qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (Diploma minimum)

The Rewards:

This opportunity is suitable for someone who is looking to make an impact in a stable and successful business. You will have multiple opportunities to access a broad benefits package, including Wellbeing options. Competitive package is on offer for the right candidate, including above average bonus potential.
