Job description
Job Title: IT Office Relocation Support Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled IT technician to support the relocation of IT infrastructure from our current office to a new location. This role involves hands-on technical assistance with dismounting, transporting, setting up, and testing IT hardware and systems to ensure a smooth transition with minimal operational disruption.
Location: Melbourne CBD
Pay rate: $36 p/h + super
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1 - Decommission & Preparation
- Dismount reusable network and IT equipment.
- Segregate items for relocation or secure disposal.
- Maintain a detailed relocation checklist of all IT hardware.
Phase 2 - Move Execution
- Pack and label IT hardware for secure transport.
- Coordinate logistics with Real Estate & Facilities Management (REFM).
- Ensure safe handling of sensitive equipment during transit.
Phase 3 - Setup at New Location
- Unpack, install, and test:
- Laptops and docking stations
- Monitors, keyboards, mice
- Power and network connections
- Dispose of packaging via approved recycling/disposal processes.
- Conduct functional testing of workstations (with support from internal personnel).
Phase 4 - Miscellaneous IT Setup- Install and configure:
- Printers
- Audio-Visual systems in meeting rooms
- Information display screens
- Perform operational testing of all systems.
Deliverables
- All designated IT hardware relocated, installed, and tested.
- Inventory report of relocated and disposed items.
- Confirmation of compliant packaging and e-waste disposal.
- Sign-off on readiness of workstations, AV systems, printers, and display screens.
Acceptance Criteria
- All relocated IT equipment must be fully operational.
- Accurate inventory matching physical assets.
- Compliance with IT and environmental disposal guidelines.
- No damage to equipment during transit.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in IT hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with network equipment, printers, and AV systems.
- Experience in corporate IT relocation projects.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
Education & Qualifications
- IT-related qualification or equivalent experience.
Work Schedule
- Estimated Hours: 8 hours during business hours.
- Additional Availability: One Saturday, depending on project criticality.
Duration
- Engagement Period: 2-3 months (exact dates to be confirmed).
- Key Milestones:
- Phase 1: Week 1-2
- Phase 2: Relocation day(s)
- Phase 3: Within 2 business days post-delivery
- Phase 4: Within 5 business days after Phase 3
Escalation Path
- Primary Contact: IT Operations Lead
- Secondary Contact: IT Service Delivery Manager
- Final Escalation: Head of IT APAC
Assumptions
- Equipment and transport provided by company/vendors.
- Access to both office locations will be arranged.
- REFM will manage furniture and heavy lifting.
