Job description
Are you a trade-qualified maintenance professional ready to take the lead in industrial asset management? This 3-month contract role is your opportunity to showcase your expertise and ensure safe, reliable operations at major terminal facilities.
About the Role
As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will support terminal operations, overseeing all preventative and corrective maintenance for multiple industrial sites. You'll supervise a team of tradespeople and contractors, lead compliance with HSE and quality systems, and manage daily and long-term maintenance plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shift maintenance activities and deliver work schedules for all site facilities.
- Supervise a team of mechanical tradespeople and coordinate contractor activity.
- Operate and manage the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the sites.
- Ensure maintenance tasks comply with statutory requirements, safety protocols, and operational standards.
- Oversee the permit-to-work system and risk assessments for maintenance and upgrade activities.
- Respond to critical breakdowns and after-hours callouts to minimise downtime and maintain operational effectiveness.
- Identify and implement opportunities for defect elimination and continuous improvement in plant reliability.
- Manage maintenance documentation, critical spares inventory, and procurement planning.
- Support terminal upgrades, scheduled shutdowns, and minor construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems, participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
Skills & Experience Required
- Certificate III trade qualification (mechanical, electrical, or industrial disciplines preferred).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial maintenance, ideally in terminal or facility settings.
- Demonstrated ability to perform risk assessments and manage safety protocols.
- Strong communication, team leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency with maintenance software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with PLC/distributed control systems and permit-to-work procedures.
- High-risk work licence (EWP preferred), valid driver's licence.
- On-call availability for rostered maintenance coverage.
Qualifications and Certifications
Mandatory:
- Manual Open Licence (Class C, unrestricted)
- High Risk Forklift Licence
Preferred:
- First Aid certification
- High Risk Licence - Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
- Confined Space Entry certification
- MR Rigid Licence
- Trade Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
Desirable Attributes
- Previous experience in a bitumen or hazardous facility maintenance environment.
- Strong analytical and organisational abilities, committed to continuous improvement.
- Effective project management and problem-solving skills.
