Job description

Mechanical Service Technician

  • Orchard Hills
  • Mon-Fri 7am-3pm
  • Day rate of $576.92
  • It is a temp to perm role temp for 12 months
  • Start date 2nd February



Job Summary:

  • Primary location will be Orchard hills stabling and maintenance facility however the successful candidate must be flexible for occasional off-site work to attend in-service failures.
  • Support the installation and commissioning team
  • Operation of tools, special equipment, and measuring devices required to perform installation and commissioning tasks
  • Plumbing skills - desirable
  • Installation of Hydraulic and Pnuematic systems
  • Complete (on a timely basis) timesheet, work orders and job records in accordance with departmental processes.
  • Report daily to manager with details of status of work, work performed, additional actions required and/or re-assign/escalate work orders as appropriate
  • Ensure in conjunction with supervisor that when not assigned work that time is spent performing other useful tasks as required
  • Support customers, partners and internal staff as required.
  • Participate in training courses including "self learning", computer based and "on the job training".
  • Ensure compliance with Siemens and client general Safe Work practices and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify health, safety & environmental risks.
  • Create and use Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and work instructions.
  • Report all hazards to manager, supervisor or safety representative.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures.
  • When visiting other sites, adhere to on-site customer regulations.


Required Qualifications:

  • Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting and Machining
  • Minimum 3 year's experience in industrial mechanical
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card (or ability to obtain)
  • Working at Heights certification
  • First Aid certification (preferred)
  • Forklift licence



Depot Workshop Equipment (DWE)

Preference to have knowledge of the following equipment:

  • Wheel lathe mechanical systems
  • Heavy lifting equipment
  • Overhead crane mechanisms
  • Automatic train wash mechanical systems
  • Material handling equipment
  • Workshop machinery
  • Mechanical tools and fixtures
