ABOUT THE ROLE:

The purpose of the position is to repair and maintain Council's infrastructure assets. To lead a team in the effective maintenance of Council's infrastructure assets. Organise and manage the effective use of materials and equipment as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair and maintenance of Council's infrastructure assets and ensure that all work is carried out to Council's standards, specifications and expected level of workmanship.
  • Plan the day's workflow, make onsite decisions including job selection to maximise site safety and efficiency
  • Organise and plan staff requirements, order all materials required
  • Record and document work carried out including job data entry into Council's Corporate Asset Management System.
  • Comply with relevant Codes of Practice at all times, including code of conduct and demonstrating behaviours reflecting the City's corporate values.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is always maintained on site for all staff, the position is responsible for site risk assessment and control of identified risks, crew compliance of SWMS, SWP`s, site services identification and site traffic control.
  • Drive and operate Council's fleet of vehicles, large and small plant and machinery (if licensed) appropriately. Fully comply with the responsibilities of a driver in operating and maintaining a Council vehicle as set out in the policy 'Instructions to Motor Vehicle Drivers'.
  • Operate plant items if qualified, in accordance with Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Work Procedure (SWP) to provide effective maintenance of Council's infrastructure assets.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by Supervisors and or Management to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of repair and maintenance services.
  • To be held accountable for working conditions under the control of the position and for detecting any unsafe or unhealthy conditions or behaviours and to take immediate steps to report investigate and rectify any risks to health, safety and welfare arising from any activity.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Plumbing Trade Qualification and current Plumber's Licence with endorsement for backflow prevention testing.
  • Proven experience leading teams in high-traffic, pedestrian-rich environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Council technical specifications and asset management practices.
  • Strong track record of promoting and managing on-site safety.
  • NSW C class driver's licence (MR licence to be obtained within 6 months).
