Production Operator / Forklift Operator
Location: Thornton, NSW (Outer Newcastle Area)
Rate: $34.29 per hour + Overtime + Saturday Work Available
Hours: Monday to Friday | 6:00am - 4:00pm (hours may vary)
Employment Type: Ongoing with a view to permanent (within 2 months for the right candidate)

About the Role

We're currently seeking a reliable and experienced Production Operator with Forklift experience to join a busy manufacturing team in Thornton. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to secure ongoing, full-time work with the potential to transition into a permanent role quickly.

This role involves a 50/50 split between production labour and forklift operation in an industrial environment manufacturing reinforced concrete products.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Perform daily pre-start checks on machinery and equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Operate forklifts to move pipes, reinforcement cages, and materials

  
  


• 
  

  Open moulds, remove finished products, and prepare for next production cycle

  
  


• 
  

  Perform quality checks and ensure compliance with product standards

  
  


• 
  

  Conduct finishing work such as labelling, patching, and cleaning

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain a clean and safe work environment

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with basic maintenance as required

  
  


• 
  

  Work flexible hours including some weekends and public holidays if needed

  
  

Skills & Experience

• 
  

  Forklift licence (essential)

  
  


• 
  

  Experience in concrete manufacturing, steel cages, construction, or industrial production preferred

  
  


• 
  

  Strong focus on safety and attention to detail

  
  


• 
  

  Able to work in a fast-paced, physical environment

  
  


• 
  

  Reliable and punctual with a good work ethic

  
  


• 
  

  Willingness to complete further training and certifications if required (employer-supported)

  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

  Current driver's licence

  Own transport (preferred due to location)

  
  


• 
  

  EWP and Confined Space tickets are a bonus but not essential

  
  


• 
  

  Must wear long-sleeve high-vis shirt and pants with reflective tape (PPE compliant)
