Job description

Are you passionate about providing excellent customer service and assisting the public with their inquiries? We are looking for a Customer Relations Officer to join the team. This role will primarily cover Thursdays and Fridays, with the possibility of additional hours as required.

About the Role

In this part-time position, you'll be the first point of contact for the public, offering valuable information, handling enquiries, and providing support to ensure smooth service delivery. You will assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date information while providing administrative support across various departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service at the front counter and via phone

  • Handle all customer enquiries and provide clear and accurate information

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as registering applications, managing correspondence, and maintaining records

  • Operate the switchboard and assist with "Messages on Hold" updates

  • Assist with producing materials for the public and maintaining relevant information displays

  • Support various departments with a range of administrative duties as required

What You'll Bring

  • Previous experience in front-line customer service and administrative roles

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle inquiries with professionalism and courtesy

  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • A National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain one)

Desirable

  • Experience within local government, planning, building, or health services

  • Experience operating a switchboard
