They are currently seeking to appoint a Financial Accountant to join their high performing team based in the heart of the Brisbane CBD.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager you will be responsible for providing accounting and financial support to the Finance Department in the areas of statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial accounting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial reports (income statements, balance sheet and cash flow) and CFO report, including supporting schedules and commentary
  • Assist with the preparation of month end financial reports, using both excel and system-based reports
  • Quarterly preparation and submission of ABS surveys, landlord and owner reporting
  • Support the accurate and timely preparation of delivery of statutory financial statements and annual reporting requirements using One Source to ensure compliance with financial legislation and preparation for audit.
  • Coordination and reporting on Government Grant receipts
  • Monthly preparation and reconciliation of the industry graduate payroll tax rebate
  • Supporting the internal and external Debt recovery team
  • Managing recovery of third-party debtors
  • Month end processing to enable release of results including: -
    • Posting journals - including processing of revenue journals
    • Preparation and review of key reconciliations, including debtor, debtor provisioning, debtor clearing and deferred revenue reconciliations
    • Preparation of monthly results in compliance with accounting standards
  • General ledger maintenance and reconciliations of allocated accounts such as bank loans and interest
  • Manage Bank guarantee tracker
  • State P&L variance analysis
  • Supporting other finance team members with other ad hoc tasks and back up as required
  • Responsible for monthly and annual system processes as they relate to financial close in SAPByD and Tableau
  • Preparation of financial and tax information to support compliance with financial, tax and legal responsibilities (where it relates to finance matters)
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls to reduce the risk of fraudulent activity within the business occurring
  • Responsible for monthly and annual system processes as they relate to financial close in SAPByD and Tableau
  • Identify and implement improvements to businesses processes, ensuring manual processes are reduced, system and process efficiencies are improved, and costs are reduced
  • Preparation of monthly BAS and payroll tax return (backup)

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualified in Finance or Accounting
  • Qualified CPA/CA, or studying towards
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP
  • Strong skills and knowledge of Excel
  • Payroll and Tax accounting experience desired
  • Current knowledge of accounting standards and relevant tax and statutory requirement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence
  • A detailed orientated and process driven individual who is passionate about developing and embedding best practice
  • Sound organisational and time management skills
  • A high degree of integrity, honesty, commitment, and responsibility
