They are currently seeking to appoint a Treasury and Tax Accountant to join their high performing team in Brisbane.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working within the finance team, you will be responsible for the oversight, coordination and reporting of the Bank Reconciliation and operations, Treasury Management and Performance Bonds, and Administrative functions within the Financial Planning and Reporting Unit. This position actively contributes to a financial control environment, including ensuring that all statutory requirements associated with banking, receipting, investing, and performance bonds are met.

The duties and responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:-

  • Banking counterparty interactions and relationships with 6 banks
  • Debt Management of organisation including the existing USD 2.5 billion debt facility alongside existing and new trade finance facilities
  • Foreign exchange management, including review/ development of hedging strategy as required and management of the rolling A$200 million hedge book
  • Management and oversight of the organisation's liquidity position ensuring that funds under management are within Optimal Working Capital limits and that cash forecasts are continuously updated and accurate
  • Manage and monitor the companies risk function including Enterprise Risk Management (Risk Profile), Business Continuity Plan and In-Country Risk Assessment
  • Insurance coverage for assets including focal for policies renewal, extensions, modification and claims
  • Plan, manage and ensure all compliance obligations are met for the company, including Income Tax Return, BAS, payroll tax, IAS, FBT and tax effect accounting
  • Manage the tax planning strategies including review/ development of new strategies (as required) ensuring the organisation maintains a tax efficient operating structure
  • Manage and have oversight of the overall function of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, Procurement and Intercompany charging/back-charging completed by the Shared Services staff

About you

This is a very hands-on position best suited to an aspiring finance leader that knows a role harnessing the foundational elements of their core accounting education and training is important to this as well as future employers. Experience in Treasury and Tax is highly desirable. Someone from a Big 4 or chartered background, whether it be prior experience or current public practice experience, is highly desirable.

  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Big 4 or chartered accounting background desirable
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and manage custodial relationships
  • Eye for detail and enjoyment of complex work
