This state government department is in the look for a Cloud Engineer to make part of their team. the purpose of the role is to lead the development, testing, uplifting and deployment of applications and software systems, including critical emergency management systems across the full application technology stack. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in Python data manipulation libraries (PySpark, Pandas, NumPy) and Scala
  • Experience leading solutions using the Azure Data Components (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse and Azure Databricks) -
  • Big Data experience with main focus on Spark, big data storage formats (such as Parquet)
  • Strong experience in C# (.Net Core)
  • Migration experience uplifting SSIS packages to native Azure Data Components
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
  • Experience in Continuous Integration strategies and software, particularly Azure DevOps, in the context of working within an agile software application development team.
  • Experience with source control tools (e.g. Git, GitHub) is required.
  • Data Modelling skills
  • Experience using netCDF libraries and manipulating netCDF files is a bonus

Accountabilities

  • To lead the implementations of data pipelines, analytics, data lake, and data warehousing
  • To implementing and uplift ETL (extract, transform and load) pipelines and migration of legacy SSIS packages to modern Azure technologies (Synapse, Spark, ADF).
  • To work in a DevOps model in an Agile environment and participate in sprint activities and record work completed against JIRA user stories.
  • To provide technical advice regarding the development of software systems
  • To present ideas for system improvements in line with strategic roadmap
  • To use a document-as-you-go approach to ensuring key features/functionality are captured in a shared knowledge base
  • To coach and develop the skills of other team members.
  • To collaborate with the broader organisation around bugs, enhancements and opportunities
  • To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate
