C# / SQL Developer

This government department requires several Senior Developers to join their Brisbane CBD based team on an initial contract for 6-months. You will work as part of a technical team of developers and report to the Executive Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the technical design and implementation of existing agency systems and future solutions as they are introduced.
  • The analysis, design and development of integration solutions between agency systems and external partners.
  • The development and implementation of industry best practice frameworks to augment agency systems.
  • The technical support of existing business applications and integrations within the environment.
  • Provide quality advice and identify opportunities to develop and enhance the technical solutions within the agency.
  • Interpret business requirements and translate those into functional, technical and non-functional software specifications as necessary.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the technical environment and the supporting processes.
  • Ensure application functionality is thoroughly documented and communicated to the development and test teams.
  • Liaise with stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of the department and recommend technology solutions that assist in achieving agency outcomes.
  • Develop strong relationships with business and technical staff to identify needs and business solutions.
  • Facilitate workshops to clarify and negotiate technical outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative networks with business and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to changes in customer needs and expectations.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate responses to system issues reported by staff
  • Maintain a professional customer focus.



As the successful incumbent of the role you will demonstrate the following experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Significant experience operating as a senior technical resource in a large, Microsoft .Net focused enterprise environment
  • Extensive experience in the development and maintenance of complex applications using the Microsoft suite of development tools. This is a role that will suit a full-stack Developer with experience that includes, but is not limited to:
  • Visual Studio and the Microsoft .Net Framework, specifically utilising C#
  • Microsoft SQL Server and TSQL Stored Procedures
  • Microsoft SSAS and SSIS
  • PowerBI and SSRS Reporting Services
  • Web Development technologies such as HTML, CSS, MVC, ASP.Net, JSON etc
  • Contemporary integration techniques such as Web Services, ASMX, REST and SFTP



In addition, any experience in DevOps, mobile development and BizTalk will be advantageous;

  • Solid and contemporary knowledge of different Software Development Life Cycle methodologies;
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience in relational database design and development;
  • Significant systems analysis and design experience;
  • An understanding of quality assurance activities and processes;
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex system and process concepts which both business users and IT Technical staff can interpret;
  • Ability to cultivate productive working relationships;
  • Ability to conceptualise broader business issues, structures and operations;
  • Understanding of governance frameworks;
  • Experience in an ICT operational environment
