The Role

The 18 month Procurement Analyst role will be reporting to the Director based in the US and the Regional Procurement lead based in Melbourne. You will play an integral role in supporting the business in achieving its goals. You will be fully responsible for meeting KPI's through analysis of data and developing excellent stakeholder engagement. This role will conduct detailed analyses looking at facts and data of the respective business and location, with the objective of providing deep and meaningful insights to the organization. The Procurement Analyst will support a variety of activities across the Vendor Enablement and Material Management workstreams to ensure a robust network of vendors are properly screened, contracted, and enabled as part of ongoing SAP deployment activities.

The successful candidate will be expected to actively implement procurement efforts and execute tactical procurement processes and to serve as a resource regarding processes, procedures and systems to enable business objectives. As a Procurement Analyst, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, driving cost savings, executing RFPs, and implementing effective procurement strategies. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the company's procurement needs are met while also contributing to our client's mission of improving lives.





Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completing vendor screening, due diligence, and compliance as required according to department as well as local market requirements and procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective vendor management strategies, including regular communication with suppliers and evaluating supplier performance.
  • Implement procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute procurement strategies that support the company's goals.
  • Travel to New Zealand every month or 2 to manage procurement activities in that region.
  • Developing tools, templates, and trackers to manually gather and analyse large data sets.
  • Obtaining product specifications and drawings, as well as clearly documenting IP ownership between MSD and the external partner
  • Analysing data collected with the business stakeholder and line manager to identify and recommend opportunities for consolidation and simplification.
  • Execute sourcing projects, RFP, negotiations, and contract with vendors according to department procedures.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives through strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier consolidation.



Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary education or experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Strategic Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Ability to travel to NZ
  • Minimum of 2 years sourcing experience within Technology, consumer industry or pharmaceutical.
  • Experience with SAP ATLAS and Ariba.
  • Knowledge of procurement sourcing strategies and negotiations
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptable
  • Ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Advance skills in excel.
  • Global Procurement policy knowledge and compliance.
