We are actively engaged with our Federal Government client in Canberra who are looking for Senior WHS Officer to commence a initial 12 months contract with 12 months extension

What to expect:

Reporting to the Advisor Training & Development the Senior WHS Officer will be responsible for the development, design and delivery of training of WHS policies and procedures for the Operations Division.

The Senior WHS Officer will review existing processes with a view to improving efficiency, streamlining existing procedures and ensuring Operations keeps up to date with contemporary advances in WHS matters.

  • Undertake research, development and implementation of policy and procedures related to Operations Work Health and Safety, providing advice and guidance to managers and employees on interpretation and practical application
  • Conduct regular reviews of the WHS Risk assessments and Operations WHS Manual in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Operations managers to build and implement a high standard of safety processes for Operations staff.
  • Lead and promote a continuous improvement culture in regard to Operations WHS procedures.
  • Review, design and develop relevant training in areas of WHS and other areas as required.
  • Provide support to Operations staff to understand and implement WHS policies and procedures.

About you:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act and other relevant WHS legislation
  • Tertiary level qualifications in the disciplines of Work Health and Safety or demonstrated experience in WHS policy development, review and implementation;
  • Tertiary level qualifications in the disciplines of Training and Development or proven experience in design and/or development of WHS training or training in other areas;
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others;
  • Demonstrated technical skills in MSOffice, SharePoint, Teams, and other collaborative platforms including a good understanding of document design principles and application; and
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
